The Pooh has left the country
Well, it’s official, my best friend Winnie is now in the Mother Country, enjoying scones, earl grey tea, cucumber sandwiches with the Queen and pints of lager.
Actually, apparently she’s not having too flash a time at the moment, probably because of the shitty hostel she was in, the beggars, crazies and arguing Welsh couples.
So, no cucumber sandwiches so far, but I’m sure it’ll pick up.

New theme for ChrisLaing.net
Well, ChrisLaing.net finally has its new theme! It’s called Vitamin C, and its structure comes mostly from Ryan Hellyer’s Aqua Vaccinium theme.
Bludging off Ryan’s hard work really made my life easier 
I also made use of Ryan’s Suckerfish plugin, but unfortunately I had to modify it quite a bit since it decided to throw a wobbly and destroy all my CSS.
I’m quite pleased with the end result, but I anticipate altering the theme in various ways over the coming months.

Chris and Kate’s Excellent Adventure
Well, I just got back from my trip up north with Kate’s family. What a blast!
After travelling up the east coast (camping all the way, of course) we arrived in Paton’s Rock, a small community near Takaka in Golden Bay. Apart from soaking up the sun
and roaming the perfect beach right outside our front door, we also went on several bushwalks, water skied, swam, ate (LOTS), went on enormous rambles up an icy-cold river, walked 34km of the heaphy track (totally unprepared for the nasty weather change which forced us to rely on the kindness of fellow trampers) and drove thousands (literally) of kilometres.
To tell the whole story takes hours and hours, so I won’t bother with the details, but suffice it to say it was the best summer vacation that I can remember.
